Nicaragua is a beautiful country located in the heart of Central America. Recognised for its coasts and lakes, it has become a top ranked tourist destination.

This tropical country offers interesting environments: mountains, forests, volcanoes, valleys and beaches.

Nicaragua has two main seasons:
Winter (the wet season) runs from May through to November and is at its wettest in September and October.
Summer, (the dry season) runs from November to April. This time of year is most pleasant to visit and the best time for surfing, hiking and camping.

The Nicaraguan currency is the Cordoba. US Dollars are accepted almost everywhere and credit cards are widely accepted. ATM's are available in larger towns, in banks and gas stations.
Nicaragua Surfing Info and Details
Nicaragua has a longer than average swell season spanning approximately nine months from March to November. The largest swells, typically ranging from 6 to 8 feet, are seen between April and October.
The country received consistent south swells.

The surf conditions are also helped by the Lago de Nicaragua effect, which results in offshore winds on the west coast for most of the year.
Most of the surf is hard to find, difficult to access and requires a 4x4 truck or a boat.

Nicaragua has a wide range of surfable waves and the crowds are better than many countries. Some of the breaks are hard to get to, and you'll need a boat or 4x4.
