Silky Beautiful Mentawai Magic From Early Season Indo

Lance’s Right, or HTs as it’s also known, is a Mentawai legend — one of the original discoveries in this crazily wave-rich surf zone. First revealed in the early 1990s in the wake of those early boat trips off western Sumatra, it’s lost none of its seductive curve and line. It’ll scratch you up in a second, yet it’ll offer you the wave of your life, and on a day like this, all you have to do is take off and stay calm. Captured here on April 19 this year, as forerunners of the same swell that gave the Western Australian CT event its high quality finals day arrived in the Mentawai chain. Just a bit envious here of the lucky surfers who found themselves at Lance’s on this day, lost in an Indonesian dream.
