Advise on creased surfboard. Full relam?

This yellowed DHD stringless board got creased on a medium sized wave crash. Based on this damage and previous dings, I get a sense that the lamination is too weak. I want to do a complete relamination on the top and rails. Remove the existing lamination and replace. Except for the track pad.

I'm willing to compromise on having a heavier board. But I have no experience laminating surfboards. Will it be much heavier? A friend who has experience fixing boards will help me but if it's too heavy I might want to just fix the worst dings. Any advise?

I have to ask……why? Are you after the experience? Do you need a project? Is it a financial issue? (If so sourcing second hand would be a better option IMO). Those string Atlas carbon fiber strip boards, don’t do very well here. Seems they crease pretty easy. It was as a little age on it, so maybe it’s lived a full life? I had a rocket wide it was string. It was with the carbon strips, and it was really light, accelerated really easy when paddling and I caught a lot of waves. So I can see the attraction Maybe it’s a magic word for you do you want to keep it around as long as possible? Anyway, like you said once you get those repairs if it’s even possible any magic that was in that board is gonna be gone with the additional weight and change to flex; lightweight and flex characteristics being the two main selling points of a board like that. And I’ll still be prone to creases, maybe even more prone since the ages of the repaired areas become targeted weak spots.

If it were me, I’d give it away to a kid on the beach. Not my board and not my call, but sometimes you have to know when to fold them.

Geez….. just read that….. voice dictation feature makes a lot of mis-reads. But I guess the point was made. Stringerless carbon strip boards are pretty light and fragile and once creased better to move on than repair.

Could you please clarify what you mean. You want to remove the two layers of glass on the deck up to where the track pad begins ? Or you want to remove the track pad, relam the whole deck, then place the old track pad back on ?
