About Me

Steve Newton is Surf Consultant for Maldives surf club. He brings with him an established network of surf contacts, over 10 years in the surf industry, and 20 years in the hospitality industry having managed sports facilities for Four Seasons, The Hilton Group to name a few.
Contacts and partners include: Surf travel agencies; surf magazines; newspapers, TV (travel documentary), lifestyle magazines and international newspapers.
Steve has been working in the Laamu atoll for the past four years at the 5* resort six senses where he has been managing the watersports Centre there. He has been responsible for developing surfing on Laamu atoll with Maamendhoo surf club, organizing competition and support for local services, this includes access to internships and apprenticeships through the company and is in the process of working with the Ministry for Sport and Youth to set up a surfing governing body for the southern atolls (South Maldives surf association) affiliated with the ISA, this will help regulate surf guiding and courses providing community cohesion and supper throughout the southern atolls. Steve is a well-qualified trainer/examiner and developer in surfing and lifeguarding, registered with surf GB to train and examine potential instructors and lifeguards
