re Mr Dyson. His vacuum cleaners sell in NZ for over 900 dollars (thats over 300 pounds) they always have. They are more than twice the price of any other vacuum cleaner. His recient shift to Aisan production is about reducing his overheads to make more profit...not survival for his brand, if it was, the move to Asia would have greatly reduced the retail price as well...correct?.

So does that make me part of the globalisation problem? No - beacuse the brands I wear are still small, independent surfboard manufacturers and by wearing the t-shirts I am promoting their names and raising their brand awareness in the UK.
jonny wrote:I think a broad-brush "all surf-branded clothing" is evil, and is the reason there is a McDonlads on every street corner, and every town looks the same is the wrong way to look at it.
In reality - the problem lies in the big surf brands are no longer surfing companies. They are clothing distributors that have an association either self-made of from the past with surfing and that is their marketing strategy

Every shop is a huge surf warehouse, o'neill, billabong, rip-curl, quicksilver etc etc etc. How many world class surfboard shapers still produce surfboards there do you think???
ONE!!!! South Coast Surfboards.
