New Years Resolutions : )

New years resolution is to get down the gym instead of playing Xbox, no intention of cutting back on the good stuff but would like to have a good exercise smoke balance thing going like 1hour of exercise for every 2hours of high time.

Bought the fit to surf book which has some really good exercises in it so will be handing that to the gym instructor when i get my induction in a couple of weeks so he can draw up a program for me. Would like to swim a couple of mornings a week aswell, I reckon it would be good for 2 reasons:increase cardio vascular (sp) and get my carcass use to doing exercise in the morning as most of my surfing is dawnies.

Has any1 here had any experience using power bands to simulate paddeling when at home?thinking they could be the way forward?????????????

Good luck people! 8)

We have power bands at home. I cant use them as they make my breathing go funny - allergy I guess.

Anywho, my OH uses them on recomendation from his physio - best type of resistance you can work into your exercise routine apparently.

Resolutions:
Quit smoking, loose weight, go to gym and swimming.

Im not properly starting till feb though, Im going to ease myself into the routine. As if that will help me actually keep the resolutions

I made quite a few this year... all of which I've stuck to for the last 9 days!

1) start exercising properly (i.e. min 5x a wk) since my shoulder injury stopped me for ages
2) pester my dr, physio and surgeon until my shoulder is totally better
3) eat totally healthy meals until my summer hol. my goal is to lose 3 stones and look amazing in my bikini... realistically I want to lose 2 stones by my birthday in june... I reckon it's do-able.
4) do not eat ANY chocolate until the summer (this is gonna be the toughest one :( )
5) reduce the amount of times I swear (notice the word REDUCE - I would never be able to stop completely...)
6) try not to get so stressed about work (easier said than done - especially since some kid vandalised my car in the staff car park last wk  )

the trouble with resolutions is that you know you're never gonna stick to them for long... but i reckon i can do most of the above for 6 months... we'll see anyway.

OK, so my new years resolutions start tomorrow (I always give myself Jan), I may have bitten off more than i can chew but they are all kind of interlinked and have been a bit of a mess recently so need to sort it out. I have made a small start already but have had my last supper - I have had my chinese meal, had a few Corona's and my last cigerettes. So, here goes, wish me luck...

drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week and definately only 1 school night per week,
follow a proper skin care routine,
drive less like an idiot who has to be everywhere five minutes ago,
try and eat more sensibly,
get a good nights sleep and not stay up watching CSI's,
to stop wasting moeny on stuff i dont need/stick to my £3 a week budget at work for tea a crisps,
no more than 4 caffinated drinks a day,
stop procrasinating (sp),
surf more,
smile and laugh more,
make more time for my friends,
stop smoking

well er, im still not sure about that one. I do want to because its simply doing me no favours. I feel like I can do it every morning, but then, on the way home from work I just want a ciggie really badly so Im kind of being a bit non-commital about it in a very lame way

mine are stuff that's generally easy to do otherwise i'd never do it and theyre more like rules...

Never Regret anything that makes me happy,

Don't let things get to me so much

Live life to the full... you only live once :D

Remember everyone's great in there own way so don't dislike people for there faults.

and then theres the usual... gym 3times a week... don't eat so much crap... ya no the stuff you never do lol.

I ate my first 'bad' thing today. I had a small pack of beef flavoured crisps. The strangest thing is I enjoyed every second and didn't feel at all guilty. I suppose it's because I know I've been so good for 31days. I still daren't eat chocolate, because once I do, that's it, I'll want more and more.

STILL haven't lost any weight. I'd give up if i didn't so desperately NEED to lose a bit to get in my bikini. The fitness guy at the gym told me to keep going and it'll come off in time... but this is ridiculous. The last time I tried to lose wieght I was losing 3/4 pounds a week for several months. I could feel and see a difference and it was so easy. I don't understand why now it's so hard

Thaya, please don't worry so much about losing weight - remember muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're getting fitter and stronger you won't necessarily lose weight, but you will get more toned. :D

when i was at uni and climbed 5 days a week i weighed 2 stone more than i do now, and was quite a bit larger. I went to the docs for a new patient clinic and the nurse weighed me and told me i was overweight and very unfit. I responded by standing up, opening the door and doing a couple of chin-ups on the door frame, then said, "right, YOUR turn!". She had to admit that maybe my weight was more to do with muscle, and that i obviously wasn't unfit!
