I've never posted here before but after reading this topic I felt the need to reply (lucky you hahaha).
First, on the topic of whether guys find girls who surf "hotter" my opinion is yes and no. There is the girl that surfs because she likes to surf. This girl is "hotter" because it reflects her personality; she's doing something she likes to do which usually gives them this aura of confidence. The word is not "hot" but attractive. Guys find this girl more attractive because she shares a similar interest to them and shows she's not afraid to go out there and get banged up a bit vs. the girly-girl who sits at home and bitches about the lack of quality she got during her pedicure. It really just depends on what a guy is looking for, some like the tom-boy some like the girly-girl, most like a mix of the two.
Second, there is another girl who looks like girl number one but is not the same. She may go out to surf because she wants to look like girl number one. However, she does nothing but sit in the water and talk and paddle around never really trying to catch waves. I think this is what Inletsurfer was referring to in one of his previous posts. I am also from New Jersey(USA) and live in a beach town. The problem is that these towns are very tourist-ty which is both good and bad. It's good for the local shops to make money but bad because it gets very crowed very quickly. Imagine the street out in front of your house if you happen to live in the country. Now imagine walking out one morning and seeing bumper to bumper traffic for as far as the eye can see, natrually you would be aggravated. Not at one person in particular, but just in general at all the people and this huge traffic jam. This is what it's like to live at a beach town in the summer. The same goes for in the water. One day you walk out and there might be ilke 10 people out there all taking turns and out there for the waves. The next day there is 30-40 people out there all getting in each other's way. Couple that with the fact that most of those people are out there just to say that they surfed to the people back home and never really went out to catch waves and trust me, you'd get angry.
You know those people, they are the ones that go into the shop buy a $500+ shortboard and have never surfed a day in their life. They don't want to get a longboard or a soft top to start out on because it doesn't "look cool". They want a souvenier for their bedroom, dorm room, or living room depending on the age. I have no problem with beginners, I'm still a beginner myself and feel I am incredibly lucky that I am able to live at the beach. You can see the difference in the beginner who wants to learn to surf and the beginner who is just out there to say they did it. The true one will get pounded and head back out for more, the other will paddle for 20 minutes on his custom shortboard with the sweet paint job and then go in never even coming close to catching a wave. This is the proverbial Poser and you see it in almost every sport/hobby there is. I am also an avid motorcyclist and nothing breaks my heart more than seeing that custom chopper or ducati with only 200miles on the odometer up on its trailer being towed around.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. I've been reading for a couple weeks now and you guys seem like a pretty good bunch of people. Thanks.
