Car transport?

Postby hicarbon » Thu Jul 27, 2006 4:06 am

I drive a Mustang so there's no way I can put my stick inside of the car when I go anywhere, so I was wondering what I might look at doing in order to possibly mount it on top of the car without a)scratching the top (Planning on putting something under it anyhow) and b)without scratching/dinging up the stick. Also, should I remove the fins and place it face down, or could I leave the fins on as long as they aren't touching? (Assuming it'd be best to be safe and remove them actually).

remind me why you cant put it in your car...? put down the front seat, leave it there!

although, check out;

ive got one of those removable racks, they work well..as for mounting them, flip your board upside down with your fins sticking in the air, nothing will happen to them. honestly, I usually just chuck my board into my car, because I regularly have the front seat down, and because im lazy.

It's too long to put in a Mustang, my seats don't go "down" very far at all (The back seats will lay down, but the front seat won't go back far enough or forward far enough for it to work. Plus it's too long to make the bend. :(

FCS and XM brands are commonly available soft racks in the US. You can usually find these racks at your local surf shop. How long is the board, I can fit a 7 ft 10 in. board in my little saturn, just have to kind of put it on end so it fits between the front seats.
As for the car, that's one of the reasons that when I get my Mustang, it will be a convertable. :D

Fins stay on, board mounts upside-down and backwards (tail of board is in front of car, fins sticking up into the air).

I guarantee you'll be able to pick something up at shop in Va. Beach.

I got a set from Ocean Earth in MD; work great!

Cool deal, I'll just have to look around and see what I can find. There's no way it's going to fit inside the car that's for sure (Even if it would, I wouldn't put it in there as my car is a collectors item and I'm not about to risk tearing the leather. LOL
