Couple more photos of hot coating.

Unfortunately there are no photos of the masking on the bottom hot coat or any more construction photos as my cameraman wasn't on hand.

But in a nutshell after the bottom was hot coated the board was sanded smooth right back to the cloth in places if needed to ensure a very smooth board prior to gloss coat. Again all the sanding marks would dissapear once the gloss coat goes on. Grits used were 80, 120 and 240.
With the board sanded the pinline was added over the top of the cutlap. One of my favourite bits adding the pinline, it just adds that extra something to a board.
Very careful masking was used on both top and bottom gloss coats as i didn't want any stray resin at this point.
Gloss coat was sanded using 240 upto 600 grit then the board was polished.

Polishing can be a nervous affair. The polisdher always seems to catch on the fins and the last thing you need now is to ding the board. Lots of care when polishing.
Anyhow here's the finished board.

Im tempted to carry the board around large gatherings of people just to hear them all say what a sweet board i have because as i strolled through saunton carpark the praises came thick and fast.

Red, aaaargh! It's the worst colour in the world for bleeding. Had to try several different paints before i got one that wouldn't bleed when glassed over. So the answers the artwork is one the foam and has been glassed over.
Yeah gives us a shout if you ever decide to go fishing, i'm sure we can find a fish suitable for yourself. After having a chat with the guy in the surf shop about the wombat i'm not convinced at the moment whether or not it's a board to have in your quiver. The jury's out on this one for the moment.

Well that's what i thought when i first saw it and after chatting to a big guy on the beach who had one and loved it. However the guy in the shop selling them didn't really have anything good to say about them, suggesting that they were kind of a gimicky board. However he said the same thing about the magic carpet and that i most definately have issue with as mine surfs really well. Basically he was saying if you want a small fun board for the small stuff then get a twin fin fish. And i know many people who say exactly that. However i have a sneaky suspicion that he may not have riden the wombat. I think a little more investigation is called for.
For those of you wondering what a wombat is here you go.

It has a big longboard centre fin and box with two side biters.
