Board for Fresh Water

It is always a great idea to check with a local board shaper/shop before buying a board, right? The only problem is that there are none!

So, I have been scanning the site for info on choosing the correct board for me and found lots of info! I do have a question I can't seem to find the answer to.

My question:
What should I take into consideration in (if anything) when buying a board for fresh water (Lake Michigan)?

No salt = harder to float so lighter board, right?
Epoxy or Foamie?...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You simply need more foam to go under you. You need to compensate for the bouyancy lost by not having salt, so go with just a thicker board than what you would usually use.

Depending on weight, size, and waves (I've seen pictures, but I highly doubt it's always like that), a funboard/mini-mal would be good, or a longboard if the waves are tiny.
