Do you pee in your suit or hold it ???

Postby IslandA » Sun Feb 26, 2006 12:17 am

Dont lie! Im not too proudto say it. I have to, to warm up here where I live on the grand banks of the north atlantic. I lent out on of my suits once, I said "DONT PISS IN MY SUIT!!!". I dont know why I bothered. When he returned it I asked, "so, did you piss in it or not?". He just gave me an  ! NEVER AGAIN!!!

99% of the time, by the time I get outta the water and too the nearest loo, I wouldnt have time to get the wetsuit down far enough to pee, so, girly on not, I pee in it

Unless Im spending the night in the camper afterwards and wont have a shower, yup, the warmth is gratefully recieved. Its my warmth and I'd hate to waste it

Yep,

it takes me long enough to get out the back, theres no way in the world im coming back in just for a pee!! As long as you rinse your wettie out after every session there shouldnt be a problem!

sod all the effort and time wasted getting out to take a piss when it's alot less effort just to rinse it out properly when you get home

I cannot believe this old war-horse still has legs.
Peeing your wetsuit does no harm to you, the environment or your wetsuit.
1)Can anybody PROVE to me it wears my wetsuit out faster - show me proof, not some claim by (suprisingly) Billabong or whoever who just wants to sell me a new wettie or some stupid wetsuit cleaning product.
2)Can anybody PROVE to me it harms me physically - considering I've been surfing for 3 decades and happily peeing for all of that I'm still alive.
3) Can anybody PROVE to me my 500ml of about 95% water anyway urine is somehow harming the environment any more than all your deoderant & hair-gel, perfume or whatever you have on your bodies when you enter the water for a surf.

Just pee & stop going eeeewwwwww like a pack of chicks.

Best way of warming your suit up!

Oh, and Brent - Urine is sterile, and 99% (ish) water - peeing in the sea off the coast of Britain is probably making the water fractionally cleaner!!!

Also sharks are atracted to your pee, it has the same chemical make up as your blood. So in my opion, dont do it if you have sharks in your area!

Yea, but it's about risk v reward. The risk is I might increase my chance of being eaten alive to 2 million to 1 (as opposed to the normal 5 million to 1 or whatever)... and the stupidity of risking a urinary tract infection, a very distended bladder and an unenjoyable surfing session while I'm busting for a piss the whole time. Yay.

The reward being a nice warm tummy for 20 seconds before it flushes out.

Um, hold it in if you want. I know what I prefer....

There are 2 kind of surfers
1 Those who pee in their suits
2 Those who lie about it :)

No seriously tho, I don't like to pee in my winter suit and very rarely do so.
This is because in winter I wear a 5mm steamer, 7mm boots, 5mm gloves, and a hood, so if I do pee in it then there's nowhere for it to go!
Don't get me wrong I'm not against it out of principle  and always do it when I'm not wearing boots, but when I have peed in my winter gear before it stays next to your skin until it goes cold and and then you have all this cold pee sloshing around in your suit and you could be surfing for 3 hrs so at the end of it you can get this pee rash thing going on.
One to avoid really IMHO :( !
