Rabid seals attacking surfers

Postby oldmansurfer » Sat Jul 13, 2024 12:45 am

https://www.theinertia.com/news/a-fur-seal-rabies-outbreak-in-south-africa-has-surfers-on-edge/ There is a rabies outbreak in seals in South Africa...changes surfers outlook on having seals nearby
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Haha, well they are talking about fur seals not the navy variety which it appears are much more deadly.

I read the sharks have pure cocaine in their bodies. If it came from the sewer system you'd expect to see the metabolized elements. After the investigation it will be interesting to see how this happened.

According to Al Jazeerah one explanation is "drug traffickers are known to dump cargoes of illegal drugs into the sea if they fear being caught by the coastguard. In other instances, drug traffickers use a delivery system in which they wrap cocaine in multiple layers of plastic and other waterproof materials and drop it into the water to be picked up by another boat. In February 2023, police in New Zealand found 3.2 tonnes of cocaine worth $300m floating in the sea.
