Huge pressure ding and big crack?

Postby Gabeljj » Mon May 27, 2024 5:35 pm

Bought this lost little wing about a month and a half ago. After 3 sessions I noticed this huge pressure ding which seems normal, but there is also this weird White line/crack? it is water tight tho.

Is this normal? I have not surfed any heavy conditions, just SD chop slop. Could I glass over it? Should I write to lost? What would you guys recommend?

I think that it is a high performance board and so glassed lightly and dings easily. Not familiar with the kind of dings it should get though. I am not sure about the glassing to fix it. Perhaps taking back to the shop where you bought it and show them the crack and see what they think.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

It's a crease. As far as creases go it looks like a relatively minor one, in that it stops at the stringer. It will weaken the board, but if the glassfibre isn't cracked or split, it might be ok. It's fairly near to the nose which is better than if it was straight through the middle. You should carefully check that it doesn't go around the rail and that there aren't any splits in the glass on the other side of the board opposite the crease.

You could try and contact Lost but it will have been caused by an impact of some type, backed up by the huge pressure dent in the same place.

The best thing to do would be to fix it properly by locally sanding the area and laying new glass there to restore the strength. You could also gamble by leaving it if it's water tight, but it might get worse with time.
