Pays De La Loire Surf Trip A Bust?

Postby TGriffin » Sun Apr 21, 2024 5:50 pm

Hi there,
I am looking at a budget surf trip in france on my way to Israel. I have settled on an area in Pays-de-la Loire called Les Conches because there is a nice caamp site that is affordable as well as it being a convenient trip from Paris with the fast train and a bus.

What is the best surf shop in that area to rent/buy a board from and what are the prices like for renting boards? Thanks and yeew.

Somebody might know from the forum , the other way would be to arrive and have pleasant tour of the surf schools and surf shops.
Pre browse on the net and have a general idea. I have found that surf shops generate direct local knowledge too. #
Probably a much safer and comfortable option than the seaside in Isreal at the moment.
What is your level of surfing? That may influence your board rent or buy choices!

I have not been in Les Conches but, apart from several other Beaches, pretty close in Les Tranches Sur mer.

Board rental should not be a problem along the whole French coast for about 7-10 Euro / day depending on the board for BICs and Softboards. If you want to rent high Quality hard boards, more reasearch specific to Les Conches is needed. G**gle is your friend here.

The Vendee and its proximity to Paris is a blessing in terms of train/infrastructure, but also a problem as it means this area is typically far less relaxed than Landes (further Sourth) and prices are higher.

When do you plan to go? The French Atlantic Coast becomes pretty nightmarishly full Mid-July to end of August, and this year there is the Oympics on top.

I defintely would caution wrt Israel.
