Recommendations for a beginner near Mornington VIC

I am a complete beginner who is wanting to put in reps over this summer to catch up to my half-decent mates. I've been boogieboarding for over a decade, but only ever on beach breaks so I'm not confident braving a point break yet.

Currently have a 7'6" softlite which was bought for me as a teen and is too small for me (6'1" 80kg) to learn easily. I'm planning to size up to an 8'6" - 9' foamie (maybe a gboard?) and hang onto the softlite as an option for when I no longer suck.

Really looking for advice on the best beaches to surf as I've only been to Gunnamatta a couple of times and don't know all the beaches in the area (previously only got wet on vacations or stinking hot summer days)
