I was out this past week with my daughter (not pictured) and a surfcamp that was next to us took photos of their students and posted online. I was in one of the shots; the only picture I have ever seen of myself “surfing”. Good times.

You know I came close to running over a cameraman while he was trying to get pictures of surfers in the tube. I never saw the results or heard if he got a picture of me in that tight tube where I had no room to steer away from him. I had heard that photographers would move out of the way so no worries but it wasn't from him and he was just trying to learn the ropes. There is a picture my wife took of me cutting out at the very end of a wave. Too bad you can't reproduce images you have seen. But for most of my surfing career I only think about photographs after I am done surfing as it should be in my mind LOL I guess if you are trying to make money surfing or want to record what you do so you can improve then photography can be useful

Surf all around Maui. First signs of winter waves just started last few days. We had the worst summer anyone can remember, so every one is jonesing. I will post photo in the future.

Been surfing 40+ years in Hawaii and have made trips to Indo, Fiji, Aus, Cali, etc back in the 90's. I am looking to take a long trip with my son who will bee 21 and is a solid surfer next summer. He is goofy and I'm regular. I have been mostly on midlengths and Hp longboards for years, mostly due to crowds and dad bod. I'm almost 57 could still short board or fish type if not too crowded. Thinking about South Sumatra or Central America. We don't want to have to take boats for every session, a channel is nice - point. Would love waves right out front. Should have a decent budget by then, but don't need/want luxury or hipster yoga wellness type place. Looking for potential for decent sized waves 4-6 Hawaiian sale and manageable crowds. As a side note good fishing option not needing a charter. Any thoughts - experiences would be appreciated. Open to other regions also.
