Rocket wide vs seaside for a low intermediate in smaller sur

Hi all! Looking for a bit of advice on a surfboard purchase. Im tossing up a used rocket wide or seaside.

Im from Christchurch Nz surfing 2-4 beach breaks and occasionally 6 feet if I go out of town. I would say I’m on the low end of intermediate and surfing a high volume fish PU 6'1" 21 3/4" 2 3/4" 41.3L with quad keels

Im looking for something that is a bit lower in volume and turns a bit better but still enough to paddle easily into waves.

Ive narrowed it down to the rocket wide and seaside but a little bit unsure on what size to get and which one would be more fun. Im 168cm and 70kg any advice would be appreciated!

Im 51 and 90kg and have a 6’ RW @ 37L that floats me fine on smaller stuff and gets into waves well. That i reckon is a bit relative to the wave and ability though. Better surfers at my local dont miss waves and they ride anything from mini mals to potato chips previously snapped and wrapped back together so Id attribute “paddles well” to the surfer not the board. Not my favorite though. Rocker is a little flat, but it’s ok. RWs are popular, Insee alot of them in lineups FWIW.

cant go wrong with either.. I reckon if you still exploring options go with the rocket wide in a 5 fin set up..

and get a range of fins second hand.. the mr2 plus ones are good.. then you can also ride as a normal thruster and then as a quad.. it will give you experience with surfing all the different fin options..

if you surf it maybe 5 times in a row with the same fins, you will get to know the difference.. maybe more..

the volume you are surfing is lots.. you could come down to 35ish if you can catch a wave every time on your big board.. if you still miss waves then keep a bit more volume.. but at 70kg you'll probably end up closer to 30litres..

the firewire is only good with the machado quads i hear.. but i heard its real good.. so up to you really.. keep in mind sometimes you just can't beat that thrusters feel top to bottom.. or bottom to top lol..
