Rocket Wide and Seaside

Postby Brawwp » Fri Jul 22, 2022 12:18 pm

Looking to add another board to my quiver. I’d say I’m lower level intermediate. I have a 5’8 FireWire seaside, and a Hayden shapes foamie. Considering selling the hypto foamie and getting a 5’10-6’ rocket wide squash tail. Anyone have experience on the RW and seaside to give input on if that would be a solid second board to add?

Currently located in Texas for 10 more months then moving to California. Mainly surfing Waco wave pool right now and occasionally make it to the beach which is really mushy surf.

ive had 3 rocket wides.. eps and swallow tails so i can't comment on the squash tail.. haven't ridden a seaside but my mate owns one. Do you already own the seaside? supposedly without the quads from machado those boards are trash, and with them they are one of the best boards.. I can't explain that but thats the feedback i have seen.. I'd say the rocket wide and seaside cover the same wave range.. the only difference being the rocket wide can be run as a thruster as opposed to a quad or twinny..

If you got the rocket wide in pu you might be able to get it upto 6 foot which might help your quiver with some range.. at a guess id say the swallow tail would go better in bigger stuff with the tail and some raked fins than the sqaure tail.. its a mean board.. easy to paddle, can turn well enough, and pretty fast.. i liked it as a 2 plus 1 with the MR fins, and I like the trailer fin in.. without the trailer fin it was too loose for my liking..

those MR fins make a board go better than it usually would in small stuff, and hold a decent amount of hold and pivot.. I love those fins..

in saying all that i reckon get the rocket wide in pu, so you can have a different experience with a thruster eg more pivot unless you usually surf mushy soft waves then go spinetek
