Bought an identical board and my assumption was wrong.

I buckled my Torq longboard so I went out and bought another similar one. Same dimensions but slightly more expensive as this new model apparently gives you more flex due to the type of material they use and it's suppose to be even more unbreakable. While my original board is in repair, I tried out the new board a few times. I was fairly certain that the board is heavier, more rocker and the center of balance isn't in the middle. Once I got my original board back. I put them right next to each other, I weighed it and looked at the rocker. They are all identical lol! Now I feel so stupid and knew my brain was messing with me. It's most likely exactly the same. I'm not sure how I can tell if it has more flex, it's not like I can surf that well and push the board that hard.

It’s probably just the difference in color that’s messing you up
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Red should make it go faster right?
When I bought it, I wanted it to be identical but stronger materials. I did got what I wanted. But my brain is telling me that it surf and feel differently.

The reason why I wanted it to be the same as my old buckled board is because that is the first board that I learnt and caught waves. For the past 8 years, I've surfed the same board.

I recently felt vastly different sensations on the same board, 2 consecutive sessions. That could be due to the first session being my first ever session on that board, so the sensations of were heightened.

How did you manage to break it? Did it actually snap?

I have the same board (the blue one) and it got overrun by a car on two different occasions, I have been keeping it on my car roof for the last couple of years (In South California Sun). I got into a few collisions including a one with a SUP. To say nothing about numerous nose dives, etc. After the five years of usage no repairs whatsoever.

Overall, I think the new board is a bit different. It appears to be TET-CS and the old one is regular TET. The dimensions and volume are the same but TET-CS is slightly more flexible.

That is the info from the TORQ website:

The torq TET-CS, or Carbon Strip utilises the same advanced TET process with a performance oriented lay-up. The TET-CS Longboards feature a UD Carbon Strip on the base and deck for strength but allows torsional flex.

The result is these boards feel more lively than the standard TET; slightly lighter and more responsive, making them even more fun to surf, but just as strong as before.

Anyway, time, the sun and regular surfing may have changed flexibility a little bit.

The blue one got ran over by a pickup when it was upside down. Guess there's already tension and stress on the board. I've had this board for maybe 5-6 years now. I rarely nose dive with this board. But this time I manage to buckle it by wipeout, the board must have flipped because my legs got cut up by the fins. I don't really know how I broke it though. I only found out when the board started flexing on my next wave.

Not sure TET-CS is more flexible, perhaps I'm too light and I don't surf it hard enough to push it to flex. It definitely feel a little quicker but I think it's probably because it's not all banged up like the blue board.

As for the cuts on your legs, this board's fins are dangerous. Probably, got my jaw broken by the fin impact.

I have just got DON TEC. It supposed to be more "high performance". Let's see how it is different
