FireWire fun board. Good choice?

Postby Sean1500 » Fri Mar 04, 2022 8:51 am

Hi all. I’m a 41 year old beginner, male. 5’11” 155lbs. Fit. Currently riding an 8’0” NSP epoxy board and like it but thought a more agile board might be more fun. I live in San Francisco, mostly surf at Linda Mar in Pacifica and Pleasure point in Santa Cruz. Occasionally Ocean beach if it’s mellow.

I found this board on CL. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/spo/d/ ... 81050.html
Any opinion on if it would be good fit for me? Decent deal? Thanks,
Sean

I’d go for it. The FireWire likely has less volume and a bit more rocker than your NSP but at your weight and if you are catching waves with the nsp then I believe you will adjust without much issue. The board will ride differently and you’ll have options when checking the surf report. And if you don’t get on with it, it’s a CL board and you will most likely be to sell it for around what you paid for it.

I’m a big fan of FireWire boards. They are durable, good shapes and I like the feel of them so long as there is not too much chop.
