Does this epoxy board need repair?

Postby hsmoonjohn » Sun Nov 07, 2021 5:55 am

I have nsp 7'6 epoxy funboard, and it has some chips(dings) on nose. It seems small. Does it need to be repaired?

Some look to be cosmetic. scratches to the painted layer, others look deeper to the foam, which should be fixed!
Water will still cause issues , make sure you use epoxy resin!

Thank you! Would it be enough to just cover it by epoxy resin or does it need more work besides that?
I don't think i'm gonna use it for long time but probably at most several months~an year

There are solar epoxy resin kits that can be used and basic repairs done, good sunlight or a UV lamp can set the curing process.

Sanding and close to match spray cans can make a neater. finish, Mixing your own epoxy is a little more difficult and most of what I see doesn‘t need that level glass matting can be added in the hole if the ding has broken through to the foam!
Absolutely ensure you have epoxy kit, anything else will dissolve your foam.

You could use :

1) Solarez Epoxy resin that comes in a 0.5oz tube. You can just sand the area down a bit and dab some resin, leave it in the ( bright ) sun for 15 minutes.

2) Ding repair putty ( plumber's putty ). Make sure to wet your finger as you're applying and smooth the edges down with a wet finger. Will be ready to go in a hour. ( or less )

3) Rattle can semi gloss white. For the shallower scratches, you can sand down just a bit than spray over it.

Thank you for all helpful comment! I have Solarez Epoxy resin, so I will try with that.
