Advice needed for winter board - 6 ft+ beach break

Postby Dmoksnj » Mon Aug 10, 2020 9:05 pm

Hi guys,

I'm currently looking for a winter board to be ridden in NJ for when waves get really good, 6+, hollow, etc. My current winter go to is a stock 6' Davey sky jet (vol. 35). I also have a stock 6' pigdog for bigger days. I'd like to add something that can help paddle faster when wearing a 5/4, 7 mil gloves/boots without giving up performance as I feel sluggish paddling the pigdog I was thinking either a 6'2 or 6'4 pyzel phantom or a 6'2 al merrick happy with extra volume. I'm open to any suggestions!

I'm really having trouble with picking height and volume for this board.

My specs:
6 ft, 176 lb (approx. 185 with the aforementioned rubber), skill level: high intermediate, fitness: excellent

Thanks in advance!
