Watch OBSF

Any thoughts? I definitely won’t be paddling out, but if Mavs breaks I don’t know if I wanna be stuck on a cliff barely able to see anything or if I should just go watch Ocean Beach...feel like that could be pretty crazy. Thoughts?

If you go to Mavs, bring some binoculars. OB should be pretty nuts starting Sunday or so, but whether or not it will be surfable is in question. I also suspect there will be a pretty awesome showing in Santa Cruz early in the week. Swellinfo says Monday will be 12-16ft and clean in SC, so there'll be some rippers out for sure. Last time they ran the Mavs Challenge, I surfed that swell at Indicators and some poor guy broke his femur out there and had to be rescued. So yeah, 'crazy' is right.

I'd much rather watch OB than Mavericks, unless I was out on a boat at Mavs. At OB you can see the entire beach in all its glorious chaos. And that is definitely a show worth watching. Back when I wasn't surfing, I'd go to the OB south parking lot when it was big and just watch things from there. If I were in SF, I'd go early in the morning on Monday (hopefully the conditions are right--no fog) and catch OB, then I might head over to Fort Point to see what kind of craziness is going on over there. However, if I were surfing up there regularly, I'd take a peek at Lindemar to see what happens to that place when its huge everywhere else. It's possible there might be some good waves there, but I don't really know whether that place can handle huge swells. It'll probably be closed out and nasty there, but I'd check it out so you get some kind of idea what that break is capable of.
