Puerto Escondido Swell Charts

Can someone explain to me why in places like Puerto Escondido you can have swell charts for a time period like this

and have giant waves for that time period

I could not pull up the swell chart, but I remember when I went it did not matter what the swell period was or even the wind, if it was big it was really big, when it was small it was just big. I ended up sitting through 5 days of 20ft+ barreling waves because I did not pack a big gun, ended up surfing the last 2 days in 7-8ft surf in my step up.

Lots of beaches you can drive to if it's too big, so rent a car
