Hi...new at surfing waves

I'm new at surf and at surfing waves forum.

I ride (try) a Manual Board 7.0x21.1x2.5 epoxy with 42l since 1 month. I start with foamy then go to 7.6 and 7.0 torq models on surf school. Now I bought the Manual Board and it's been hard to surf...very hard work to paddle and catch waves. I surf every weekend in Angola...Cabo Ledo left waves. Chest to head waves, slow but but very nice to learn.

I'm thinking maybe I went short to fast or bad choice with shape choice.

Maybe you can comment this and try to help me to understand if I need to change board.

Unlike most of the other forum members, I don't know much about board sizes so take it with a pinch of salt. It looks too wide. I've surfed many boards before I bought my first Torq. Before I had a Torq, I was catching less than 5 waves per session. Since I got the Torq, I was catching 20+ waves a session. Paddle was easy and nose diving problem was gone. I went from a absolute kook to an average kook.

What's your Torq model?

I mainly surf a 9'0 longboard. But I also spend a lot of times on the 7'1, 7'6, 8'0 and 8'6. Also got a 6'3 fish hybrid which I never use. 7'6 is the perfect spot for me. Yes they are all Torq and I'm a huge Torq fan simply because when I started learning. I wasn't able to catch much waves in the first 3 months until I switched to Torq. Then everything just clicked and it was easy.

Welcome , Rmartins, Angola, well that is being a little like frontier land for surfing.

Tell us how much you weigh. How tall you are ame how old.
Then we can talk about a TorQ or other board

The basic issue is getting a first board that makes catching waves easy, all those boards were too short, the foamies being forgiving in their buoyancy. Once you are catching waves easily then your other skills get better
