Newb...inherited this board from a friend. Tell me about it

Postby nova768 » Wed Jun 28, 2017 12:11 am

So I got this from a friend as I've been wandering into this new land of fun. Can you all tell me about this board? Haven't been able to find anything about it. From what I was told, "it's a very good and expensive board" but that comes from my friend.

If you click on the photo it'll expand and shown in the proper alignment. Maybe Mike Smith is the shaper from San Diego area. And NO, it's not a "very good and expensive board". It's a nice board to go surf on and worth as much as not having to buy a board.

Love the transparency! I don't care either way since my intention is exactly what you stated of just having a good time without having to buy a board!

Can't tell from the photo is the side fins are permanently glassed-on or not ? If they are, it's a very old board.
I would also move that center fin up a lot. And get some resin brushed on or UV-curing Solarez/suncure put on the tail that's seems to be taking in water and turning brown.

Cheeze whiz, Waiki! You have eagle eyes! Aside from this good humour, thanks for frequently sharing what you know. :)

Actually I had really bad eyesight then got Lasik surgery. I'm using computer-reading glasses right now though. If you click the photo and click it once more, the photo gets really big and detailed. You can see all the bubbles in the glass job.

Ha Ha, just went back to the original photo, and the "brown" area is just the shadow from the photographer. But still the tail has shatters that need to be sealed.
