Favorites to win for Fiji Pro?

Postby olirc » Fri Jun 02, 2017 1:37 pm

Women's final was pushed to Sunday and men's window begins the 4th. Gabriel Medina is the reigning champ from 2016; who's your favorite to win for this year? Got a bunch of lucky surfers in this year's lineup.... shark attack/encounter survivors. Gotta hand it to them for getting back out there.

Who is your favorites? For the women's side I like both of the finalists they are both amazing surfers but I like Tatiana a little more because she is from Kauai (so am I). On the men's side I have an idea of three surfers one is Kelly Slater and just because he loves this wave and surfs it really well and then John Florence of course and then Owen Wright. I would really like John to win it though. Hope he does. In reality there are so many good surfers who could pull it off. The ocean doesn't deal the same waves to everyone and some surfers are better at picking waves but some are just luckier and happen to be in the right place and do the right thing.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I like Medina but he just hasn't been performing consistently lately. I always thought the world tour was going to be a battle between John and Gabriel but back when Gabe was winning so much John wasn't and now that John is winning a lot Gabe isn't.

The Fiji Pro is back on in fun sized waves maybe 6 foot or slightly bigger.
It will probably run to the finals today. http://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2017/mct/1867/outerknown-fiji-pro/live
