Surfing in Jamaica, West Indies

Can anyone out there tell me a little about the surf scene in Jamaica? I'm trying to get a bit of intel for a possible trip. I've heard the place gets some good waves, not too big, winter and summer, but I'd like to know a little more about the scene. Are the locals ok with outsiders? Any info/experience would be helpful.
