I’m packing the 5/4 wetsuit for Mendocino County this weekend. The forecast is for 6 feet at 14 seconds and this will push my limits. Good thing the will and advance directive are done.

Where I've been going almost exclusively lately....some pictures of the spot I found stumbling around the internet.....these are pretty good days here in the photos....better than it has been lately for sure....

Goes left and right (depending on swell direction)? Or is it an A frame?

Depends really....was out the other day and a local teenage guy was shepherding a crew of pre teen groms and was out on the shoulder calling out which way the next wave was going to break and who should take it....in a set on an average swell or better a couple A frames will come through though one side is generally better than the other on a given wave....you can see it walling up left or right coming in; sometimes can go either way, sometimes really only one choice is clear....I'm still learning the spot but from beach study if you sit on the peak good waves will come going either way, and occasionally they are nearly equally good both ways.....some days it's mostly lefts, other days the right is working better...... Splitting the peak is common though on smaller days you can make the section taking off behind the peak so it gets a little chaotic and there are a few near misses that can be counted on. On good days it's a popular spot for sure.

Last week I saw a local guy on a longboard do a forehand vertical re-entry when it was 1.5OH....sickest thing I've seen done on a longboard in person to date....had half of the board sticking straight up above the lip....I was paddling back out about 20m down the wave.....the guy was smiling like a fiend!

better than my 'left or right' spots - usually it means 'closing out but maybe you can sneak left, or right, sometimes'
