Intermediate Beach breaks in Canary Islands?

Postby HendrickLamar » Sat Dec 17, 2016 6:03 pm

Looks like Fuerteventura has the most beach breaks but all are given a quality rating of 2 or 3 in the atlas.

I'm looking to surf for 1-2 weeks improving my turns and angling my takeoffs, working on my leading arm and cutbacks!

I've only surfed beach breaks so not sure I would be ready for a reef break (who is?).

Heading over in February but undecided on which island/area. Any tips please?

Famara on the north coast of Lanzarote has a big beach with lots of different peaks.

El medano on tenerife also has some waves if I remember correctly

Reef breaks are great for learning to work your turns as they tend to be longer waves, you can surf a reef break if you're intermediate, just don't surf shallow jacking breaks and you'll be fine, also don't jump off your board but lay down on it after a wave (Learned that the hardway )
