I've searched for some sliding gloves online but I thought that the prices were a little bit too steep for a beginner longboarder like me. So I grabbed some old gloves and used some metal things I found around my house
This is the product:

So for the main pad I used the top of some old glass bottle and for the fingertips I used some coins I had laying around.
Well here's my question: Would it work?
you can find them really cheap. but just dont buy brands. to tell you hey i used to get all the skatemerchandise from a seller to bring it over to the store. and we had these longboards of different brands and even blanco's without a brand what so ever. also the accesories like the one you mentioned were very expensive. and there was this non branded that was a dirtcheap glove. and you know what it was all the same branded or non branded. the blanco boards came from the exact same factory for chinese or canadian maple and were most of the time even the same shape. the gloves were no exception. if you want to go really dirtcheap use the motorcycle ones with plastic they are even bettere then the longboard ones if you can find the specific ones.
knowing this nowadays i know what real quality is. well its still an opinion. but to me its like this
normal skateboard:
1.adidas superstar shoes(the real ones of letter with the rubber covered front) un breakable and flexible if you buy the ankle ones.
2. bike gloves of racebiking( no skatebrand) they have a special cushion. ofcourse they vary of depending which ones you get
3. helmet. it has to be the skatebrand im sorry. but if you have the knowledge of another one go ahead.
Longboard
1. idem ditto
2. unbranded same fabric dirt cheap gloves which are actually same quality as the expensive ones you mentioned. or buy a motorbike glove of the sorts you feel is good for you.
when i longboard i touch the ground more like tenderly. but if your the type to push hard then the longboard brands are not enough for you. in that case the motorbike ones are more for you.
the important message is. you dont have to go expensive. it is nonsens. vans shoes are shizz. and you can buy the exact same shoe without the vans brand. and the laughable thing is they dont even have holes for air.
and this goes for your gloves as well. i see that you are improvising. i suggest to stay away from coins and such iron. when the warmth is on it wont go away. just look for it more. there are dirtcheap ones just skip the brands cause its just a name nothing more or less.
