Yep, there are three ways, get shipwrecked on a yacht and be arrested by th US marines, who have a full major military base there. Join the same marines in a service rotation there. Join conspiracy theory Malaysian airline 370 passengers there.

Your chances vary between nonexistent and none! Good surf though

Blah. Not the answer I was hoping for. I'll accept it though. I was looking at addu which is further north in the same arcapeligo. Any knowledge of what it might be like. Shallow?

You are luckier with this request, Adduu is considered as the southern group of the Maldives atolls and is not off limits. It has the same swell season as the Maldives and the breaks as in all atolls are coral reef shallow.
Certainly worth a look ! The Chagos are part of a large marine reserve around the wholy restricted area of Diego Garcia , permit or emergency entry only!
The Chagos are a genuinely pristine marine environment, a health gauge for Indian Ocean.

Back to Adduu, mostly boat charter surf exploration and a few pricey resorts ! Still relatively off most surfers' radar.
