Some pictures my sister took from last session.

Small day, kinda frustrating because I couldn't ride the line for long. I tried to do the "pumping" to keep the speed, but it didn't really work. After the drop and bottom turn, once I was back at the top of the wave it just outrunned me. Not sure if I was doing something wrong, or the waves were just too weak.
Well, it was better than not surfing at all, and I did ride one of my best waves monday. So it was a good week at the beach overall :D

I don't think I have ever been so happy to see small tiny waves. It was knee to waist high and I was so excited. I think it was he first waves of the month. Such an unusual dry spell on this side of the island. Probably due in part to a lack of trade winds (onshore) that would normally generate a wind swell. It was great to catch a few but the first waves I just took a dive on. Took me about 4 or 6 waves to get the feel for it again. I have been SUPing lately due to the lack of waves. My lower back was a little sore so I didn't want to risk carrying that heavy boat of a board. As soon as I saw the tiny little things , I was like "ALLLLLRIGHTT. THERE'S WAVES!!!!
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Well today was the loopiest punchiestsurf I have had inflicted on me for sometime.
About 4ft and full Jekyll and Hyde surf , take mostly easy with occasional super quick on with a change in angle as some hit the point of the sand bar, the change would kick to whole thing to double the rest of the wave height and open a warp at the bottom.
Blue clean takeoff would suddenly suck sand and look like the interior of a cement mixer.
Your feet and board would instantaneously swap position with your head in a singular rotary movement at high speed, the lip would then attempt to drive your knees through your chest and out the back of your neck.
This disaster was usually prevented as you were ironed flat on the sand bank and given a sand enema in every orifice.
Uncle Jaffa was subjected to this indignity several times before tuning to be able to make SOME about a 5 to 1 smack to wave ratio, but what waves they were.
Only three out as it was a freak unweb-connected swell
Bruise battered ( genuinely ) but pleased I can still do it on days like that. :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

Well ive managed three surfs in the last two weeks on the beach just a 2 min walk from my flat so very happy. Especially as its no longer just closeouts as a nice little sandbar has formed giving an opportunity to surf from one groyne to the next on the right waves. Whats even better though is no one else is surfing it. Just me.

I find the whole groyne thing weird, whole beaches of them on a row. But, hey, if they can give you nice waves like that who am I to complain!

I went out today overhead waves but just barely. The first wave I caught I thought I might get tubed (backside) on it but instead I got pounded :). Fun waves not quite big enough to make me scared , but big enough to thrill me a little

Went out again today at the same place (Horners) a left breaking reef and definitely blew the cobwebs out after no surf so to speak for ....well since around new years. I did some awesome backside cutbacks and backside off the top turns, they felt so good. Caught about 6 or 8 waves all with steep (backside) drops and made every single drop, almost pearling on each one. Fun freaking day. One thing I learned is that SUP is not a good replacement exercise for paddling a surfboard. I was tired the second day.

More Lefts at Horners, only today was not so fast and steep. I was jamming the bottom turns and finding I maybe could have taken a little off...... timing off kind of day. The drops were not radically steep, just your normal variety steep. The waves were letting me down before it was insanely steep. Then I caught one wave and kind of cruised down the face only to have it lurch up before I got to the bottom so I stepped forward and the nose of my board slapped the water after dropping the last foot making a loud sound but fortunately I didn't pearl. I think I pulled something in my hip maybe on a bottom turn or I did an awkward off the lip maneuver...not sure where just had a new pain appear. I was surfing with the only guy I know who is older than me and surfs that same break. Fun day though it was satisfying

I decided to try some rights today since when I drove up there were some good waves. My wife decided to pull out the video camera and try to get some videos of me surfing. I'll have to download it onto the computer to see if she actually has me in there somewhere. It was rather inconsistent so I think she gave up because I was waiting for sets and then trying to catch the inside waves as I usually do but I was a little too far out for the inside waves frequently. The sets were about every 5 or 10 minutes and often by then I was out of position from trying to catch the inside waves. Oh well I caught a couple of fun waves. It was cold hahahaha yeah not wetsuit cold but I wanted one after I got out of the water.

I had an unexpectedly good session today :D

A friend of mine was popping over from Bali and so we met up for "coffee"... except I thought it would be silly not to turn up without a spare board in the car, and we popped out for a quick session at Burleigh Heads... and ended up staying out for over two hours  8)

Small waves, but good and clean, and no crowd. Caught a whole bunch including some lefts that weren't really lefts at all, but dammit, I was going left! :unuts: :woot:

I have been trying to get the video out of the camera but it is an old camera (Panasonic vdr-d220) and not supported anymore and it records on an 8 cm dvd which I can get files off but can't open them. Darn it. Got to see if I can figure out a way to get the videos out in some form that I can post here

A wee bit lumpy and wind-affected today, but some size at last, and I caught a good few out on the beachie with only a few other surfers out. It all got a bit fat as the tide came in and I could have done with a bit more volume... right, board shopping time!

Have you tried playing them with VLC player? Its an open source video player that will play pretty much anything.

Just checked out some specs. The d220 records in mpeg2 and this is compatible with vlc so it should work for you.

When I say "more volume"... what I mean is "I've seen a fish on sale really cheap and I'm trying to find a justification for adding another board to my quiver"
