Surf guitar reverb?

Where do you get your reverb when playing surf guitar? I get mine from the spring coil reverb tank in my Fender Blues Junior amplifier. It's a 15 watt tube amp and I play my red, American-made Fender Telecaster through it.

I wonder whether my question constitutes a poll. I better confer with my Kitey buddy. I do not want to get crossways with my surfing wave brethren.

Fender Deluxe Reverb RI (stock reverb) + 1962 Fender Jazzmaster or 1982 Squier SQ Tele, depending on my mood. Used to use a Malekko Chiclet Reverb which had a cool dwell feature but it's on the fritz.

Yeah, it's pink. Great sounding reverb when it's working. Will try to post a photo of the guitars later.

They are somewhat different tonally, but I'm not sure if I can really attribute that to the fretboard. There are too many other differences. In general, it seems to me that maple fretboards are a little brighter and more percussive sounding, whereas rosewood fingerboards are a little darker and more mid-rangy. But with these two particular guitars, the pickups, bridge/tremolo systems and body wood make a much bigger difference.

that is what I think I hear with the different fret boards. I played an acoustic guitar for a long time before going electric. I wanted an electric that sounded kind of like my beloved acoustic. That's why I ordered my red telecaster with a rosewood fret board.

Nice looking tele! I'm a big fan of the old school "ashtray" bridges, always had to have those on my teles.

Thank you, Tony. It's a 2005 Highway 1 telecaster. The first time I played one with a rosewood fret board was while employed, working, and living in Stuttgart, Germany. There is a very large and well stocked musical instrument store there . It's been there forever and the old man stock darn near everything. Some of the locals I jammed regularly with complained his prices were too high. He didn't give stuff away, but stocked nearly anything you wanted and, especially, needed. I liked him. It was a bonus I could speak English with him, too.

Another story. I really enjoyed living and working in Stuttgart in 2004 & 2005. I used trains to get around. OneSaturday I was grocery shopping. This involved 3 stores in the same sequence. But, I wanted to drop my solid state amp off at an amp repair shop, too. I used trains to get around the city and transported the amp on a little cart. I did not want to take the amp to the grocery stores, so I left it with cart in one of the train stations right at the escalator to the street. I was not worried about theft. The most safe I have ever felt in 40+ places I've lived is Stuttgart. Sure enough. Three hours later, my amp was exactly where I left it._
