Hey Guys & Girls

Thought I would introduce myself, I'm John 37 from Durham in the Northeast UK.

I've lurking around the forum for a few weeks now trying to soak up as much info as possible really loved the "Later in life beginners" thread, I didn't want my first post to just be questions so I waited until I had something to say. :?

I have fancied giving surfing ago for quite some time now (there always seemed to be something in the way though) & finally on Sunday I had my first experience, I went up to see the Guys & Girls at Tynemouth surf co for my first lesson.

HOLY WATSITTS BATMAN :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

Is it possible to get addicted to surfing within 2.5hrs????

I started my trip thinking of all the info I had picked up on here of late however I think it all went out of the window when the excitement took over, yes today I'm sat here still feeling like I've been hit by a truck (aching from head to toe) and sporting some lovely bruises on my lower ribs, yes I got smashed about by the waves took a number of nose dives (pearling), swallowed a lot more of the North sea than is probably healthy :spew: & got hit by another first timers board.

But hey none of that matters as I took my first ride :surfing: fair enough it only lasted about 5 seconds but WOW what an amazing 5 seconds.

I do genuinely believe those 2.5 hours and in particular those 5 seconds have changed what lies ahead for me in life, unfortunately I can not get back up there for at least 2 more weeks

The whole thing has left me stoked beyond belief I still have an ear to ear grin from it.

Thanks to everyone on here the info and general vibe here is amazing

Welcome to the forum.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Can I ask those who look on magic seaweed how reliable they find their forecasting?

Also would you guys recommend my first wetsuit to be a winter one? (bearing in mind I'm in the UK) & then next year buying something thinner, or do some of you guys just wear the same one all year round?

Thanks for any info offered.

I cant wait for my next session this weekend :surfing: :goingsurfing:
