Hi from Palm Springs, Ca.

New guy here from Palm Springs, Ca. I know Palm Springs right? For those of you that don't know Palm Springs is about 1 1/2 hr drive to the nearest beach. I'm 38 & I've been surfing for about a year (which consists of about 3-4 times a month). I've bodyboarded/bodysurfed my whole life and even though I lived in Newport Beach for 5 years I didn't decide to surf until I moved back to Palm Springs. I asked my grandmothers cousin Eddie Gutierrez of Island Influence Surfboards to make me a board (9'6"). So like everyone else I thought with my bodyboarding & skateboarding background, surfing wouldn't be as hard as everyone said. Like everyone else, Boy was I wrong. I usually surf or try to surf at La Jolla shores since it seems to be a good place for beginners. Getting my paddling & timing down to catch green waves has been my real struggle. It's hard to drop the boadyboarding with fins mindset and start using your arms. I've lurked here and read a lot of great tip's. So I finally decided to sign up. Thanks for all the help guys. I'm looking forward to being a part of the community.

In Australia with an avatar like that you'd be called WOZZA, but seriously welcome, glad you've stopped lurking and looking to become a fine UPStanding citizen of this forum.
BTW I like your board in the hardware section.
The Californian posters will help you a lot, with that distance to travel we need to help you keep stoked!
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

Thanks man. I try to make the best of my travels to the surf. Looking forward to the next trip kind of keeps the stoke going. I had my first decent full ride with trim last time I was out. So I'm stoked to make the drive this weekend to work on my timing, placement in the water & paddling. Once again thanks. Ill share my progress or be asking questions.

Hi To All Palm Spring Surfers,

I just moved to the desert from the Michigan but I am originally from Santa Monica. Surfed my entire life. Living in Michigan gave me the
opportunity to travel to great surf spots.

I look forward to sharing wave stories and the Aloha spirit.

One question, can someone refer a good surfboard glassier who preferably resides in the desert.

Thanks in advance.. Aloha to all...
