Algarve recommendations for October.

Postby Ollies » Thu Oct 04, 2012 3:23 pm

Hi Everyone,

Just hoping to get some recommendations for the Algarve, we will be flying into Faro for a week at the end of October but have never been, have read some posts here which all say the Algarve is great but cant find much info on which resort or breaks would be best. I'm hoping to get away without renting a car so would hope to stay in a resort with decent enough restuarants and bars but if possible within walking distance of a couple of nice breaks? If this is possible?. If needs be I will get a car though. Thanks for any recommendations.

Hi,
you have one major surf zone in Algarve, the west coast. That's were the best waves are. Sometimes there's also some sick waves in the south coast but it's rare, very rare. So if you're flying to Faro (which is face south) and you want to surf you must go to Lagos or Sagres or some other place near the west coast. Without a car I recommend a train to Lagos, a bus to Sagres and hope for the best. Because all spots in Sagres are faced south but on the edge of the west coast (it's a cape). If you really want to surf you need to go to beaches like Amado, Castelejo, Cordoama, Bordeira all in the west coast, but without a car or a ride it's virtually impossible.
Cheers and have a great time. Respect to be respected.
