Hey everyone! Who knew, a forum about surfing.
I never thought I'd be on a forum... and I must admit, I have an ulterior motive now that I am!
I am writing a bit of a book with my best friend on surfing and buddhism... you can see the youtube video we made for it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjiw_-vDbIU
It is going really well, and we are happy with our progress. We are, however, on the search for some case studies, and stories from surfers around the world. I will probably repost this note elsewhere, because I'm not sure that this is the best place!
Right now, we are writing some sections on a couple of things:
1. Surf rage.
2. Impermanence of waves.
3. Growth through surfing
We're hoping that some folks in this forum would be willing to contribute some stories, and if we use them, we'd more than happily give people ebook versions and iPad versions of the book when we finish it, and mention them in the credits.
1. Surf rage - For this section, we're after some examples of people that have experienced surf rage, either the victims or the instigators, and the apparent reasons that it happened. Some questions to consider are: Have you ever experience surf rage? Have you been a victim of surf rage? Have you been the instigator? Why did it happen? Was it because of localism, or crowded waves, lack of surf etiquette, lack of respect?
2. Impermanence of waves - For this section, we're after thoughts and stories more or less on any of the following statements
"There will always be another wave".
"This wave will crash and disappear into the ocean."
"This wave came from nothing, and will return to nothing."
3. Changes in perception of the world that have resulted from your experience surfing - any stories about how surfing has shaped your life in general or contributed to your personal growth.
Your name can appear in the book or we can use a pseudonym to keep you anonymous. We're open to off topic stories about surfing as well if something comes to mind while reading this post.
