Warming up

Postby Beachbum » Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:22 am

I seem to have a problem staying warm while in the line up. Paddling toward the peak, and back out to the lineup does help, but those times the waves seem to have disappeared and I'm chilling on my board, those shivers seem to sneak up on me. Should I just constantly keep moving to stay warm when I'm out there because I am allergic to the cold  .

before I got my new suit you'd often see me paddling about in a figure of eight. That or jsut sat on the board using the arms bck and forward. Working out the upper body and all that :p

get a better suit i was freezing my nuts off this winter in a 3/2 got a 4/3 and no probs. Failing that i used to find just paddling around to get the blood going is best cause once you start getting the chills they dont go away until you properly warm up and that usually eans ending the session.

What kind of wetsuit do you have? If it's old it probably seeps water that will make you cold

One of the best things about cold water surfing is emptying your piss filled bootie over your mates head when he's getting changed

Some surfers round here struggle to empty a boot full of piss even with the instructions written on the heel..

Can always buy a wet suit warmer, $350 here...
