Watches for surfing

What is a good watch for surfing? Can I use any watch thats water proof or do I need one that has a certain resistance. Can I just buy a cheap water proof watch at like target or something? I need a watch because I almost got a parking ticket if I didn't drop my board and run. Lost track of time.

I'm sure there was a topic on this already....do a search for watches, it'll come up. But yes, and old waterproof will do. I've a ripcurl one as I got it for a pressie, does the job. Any will do.

You would probably need a watch that is 100 or 200m which is suitabel for surfing.

i just bought a waterproof armitron watch from target for like 20 dollars :/ worked really well.. but i lost it one day being stupid :/

i have nixon sweet watch good in the water. make sure it has a good strap as i had a cheap one befor the nixon and lost it so spent some hard on cash on getting one that was made for surfing

just any cheapo 100m ones from flee markets will do, no need for expensive couple hundred bux watches...

I've got a citizen dive watch with a built in depth thing, which is quite amusing for figuring out how hard the poundings are - it remembers the last 5 maximum depths. I've got it up to 30 feet before, but I think it's more about water pressure than depth when getting drilled.
