Hi guys!
I would want to know what is your opinion on the best ways to improve your surfing in and out of the water?
By out of the water i mean Non-surfing days.
I try to surf as often as possible but since i work from 9 to 7, and usually the sun sets at 5 PM, that means getting up at 5:30 am on weekdays. So when i´m feeling too lazy to wake up that early i usually just jog 30 min- 1 hour I then do some pushups, pullups, squats etc.
I would rather bike than jog on those days but:
1) Bikes are expensive 2) You need sunlight and a couple of hours to bike. So plenty of days i wouldnt be able to bike and if i did had the time to bike i´ll much rather spent it surfing.
Im afraid that Jogging in the long run is going to mess my back and knees.
Would you recomend sticking to it or just do the squats, pushups, etc.?
Would joining a gym be a wise choice ? And if so what kind of excercises would improve my surfing? (Im thinking cardio, multijoint excercises, olympic lifts, etc)
Now, I have this other question:
I recently switched from a 7´0 slimmed down hybrid to a 6´3 x 18 5/8 X 2 5/16 Flyer 2.
On the 6´3 i can catch waves with ease, standing up is "No Problemo", but once im on the face of the wave my rides consist on just trying to keep on going as long as possible. I tend to take much more fun lines than on the longer board, going up and down the faces every now and then, and the wipeouts i have been experiencing have been partly because i catch much more steep and hollow waves on this board.
I want to be able to do botom turns, cutbacks, carves and flow on the face of the wave with ease. I feel that if i keep on going with the 6´3 board i´ll be able to do so in the future, but a guy here told me that eventhough i can surf on the shorter board the longer board would make me improve faster.
From my experience with both boards I think that they handle too diferently for this to be true.
I want to know what you guys think it would be the faster way for me to improve my surfing?. Thanks!
