I wouldnt plan on doing a lap though - Australia is stunningly... er... "big".
You can fly for about seven hours, all over land, and still be in Australia![]()
And a lot of it is basically empty. And has no roads. This comes as a bit of a shock to us Poms, who are used to a town every two minutes and a petrol garage with a Tesco's every five miles. You dont really comprehend just how much travelling there is to do.
You'd probably be better off doing the east coast (Vic to Qld), and then flying around to any other bits you want to see. The east coast, done in a camper van and stopping off for a surf, will still take a month or three. And even then, you'll run out of road and civilisation before you run out of Oz
