I was planning on getting those Dvd´s.
Most of the workout dvd´s i have bought/seen over the years are mainly focused for sedentary people.
You can always lookout through diferent workouts plans on dvds and magazines and make out your own one.
In fact i have always made my own traininng programs for all the sports i have been involved mixing gym execises with body weight exercises and cardio.
Unfortunately for me at least i dont have the will to keep on pushhing myself and after a couple of weeks i start skipping days until i just grow tired of it. So for people like me the dvd motivation factor is what´s worth it, its cheaper than paying an instructor.
so my advice for you go an browse through several fitness mags and websites and cut and paste their excersises until you build a program you like. As you may know there aint a specific workout for each sport.
Mix strenght training with cardio. As you have seen for example in the dvd you bought those guys just added special twist to regular excercises to make them more surfing oriented.
Or another advoice i can give you is to get involved in a martial art... jiu jitsu, kick boxing, muay thai will give you a heck of a workout, you´ll develop a lot of musles needed for surfing, lots of cardio involved, plus its fun and youll have a screaming psycho motivating you.
This is just my .02 cents buddy i hope it helps out. Please keep us informed as what you have done or if you have found a nice training program.

SurfCoach wrote:The Surf Stronger workouts work well for all levels. Modify the exercises by:
(A) moving quicker
(B) using a heavier weight
(C) adding more reps
(D) taking less rest
Changing the above variables will always be a great way to progress any workout.
30 jump squats anyone? (with 8 pound dumbbells in each hand?)
You get the picture.
