There are are large numbers of reefs from 100M to upto several miles from the shore, in Puerto Rico. People just dont go to them if the paddle is more than 50 M unless they want a wave pretty much to themselves. There are a few reefs about 50 to 100 M from the shore in the main metropolitain areas like San Juan, however the line up is generally pretty good. Its then like any break near the shore, ie competitive.

hell no its not a hugely long paddle. but its far enough to tire out kooks who might not have the energy to get back in. also stayingon the peak on a break that exposed to currents and wind isnt going to be easy. hence lots of kooks will get into trouble.

market-research wrote:does anyone know about the progress on the reef construction?
is it proceeding?
will it be finished this year as promised?
are the knee height waves going to be like the pipeline after it is finished?
I did my thesis on marketig oversell and its backlash consequences - is it possible that artificial reefs are being "oversold"
if anyone is living near the reef can they report on its progress?
cheers
