I am probably way too late for this post, but here is what I did because I could not get my epoxy mini tank to duck dive since it floats like a cork. For small white wash, of course paddle hard into it and when you get to it, push down the front and lift your chest over the white wash. For larger waves and no one will probably agree with this but it worked for me, I bail off the wave spin the board towards shore and grab the fat velcro part of the leash (not too close or the board will bust up your knuckles). I then sit down under the wave and pull the back end of the board down with me. After the turbulance passes, I spin the board back around pop back up on it and continue paddling. This does not get you out there as fast as being able to duck dive, but faster than failing to make the duck dive and getting the washing machine treatment and better than just bailing off your board and letting the wave take it bashing others and breaking leashes.
