Wetsuits... Taking care of it? Best youth wetty?

Postby flex » Sat Jan 19, 2008 8:59 am

I'm about to get a wetsuit but I'm having trouble deciding which one. Whats a good wetsuit that'll stretch a bit so i dont have to keep buying a new one every year until i stop growing? How do you take care of it so it lasts as long as possible? I'm quite sensitive to cold water so a wetty that'll keep me warm? Thanks.

a one that fits properly is the best you can get.
I'm hearing that c-skins are awesome.
You should wash your wetty in fresh water after every use. You only need to buy a new one if you either out grow it or it get a hole in it that can be repaired.

Its all about comfort.

my skinny cold sensitive 10year old swears by his 5mm excel which fits him perfectly. This is his first new suit. he has been in the water from the age of 4years and worn a variety of secondhand suits. While you grow you just need to bite the bullet and buy wetsuits regularly as they need to fit. I always sell them on, my local surf shop also does trade ins and often last season stuff is cheaper.

I like to clean the suits in my household with 500psi Wetsuit/BC Wash & Conditioner (http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-166/030 ... ioner.html). It has an anti-bacterial chemial in it that is commonly used in soaps. I buy it by the gallon, but you can also buy it in 8 ounce bottles. This stuff really keeps the neoprene nice.
