There are some great quality waves in the north of Portugal. The area's are not so well travelled when compared to the well worn surf routes around Ericeira or Peniche, which makes finding empty waves much more likely.
There are a wide range of breaks, something to suit everyone.
The surf season is the same as the rest of Portugal, the highest quality swells are created from late Autumn and continue throughout Winter. Summer brings smaller swells but warmer water - a better time for a new surfer.
