It´s on the Captain´s beach because it is 2 min walking from Captain´s Log House (a hostel) in Casais de Baleal, Peniche. Wave height is varible (from 1m up to 9 m). Often is quite long and offshore is frequent. Chance to get good waves all year around. The female final of the ASP world surf championship in 2010 was here. Is 4km away from Supertubos that annualy hosts the ASP world surf championship. There are several hostels, surfcamps and surf schools close. Excellent and cheap grilled seafood. Several beach bars and cool night clubs. Not crowed all year around except July/August.
The hostels and surfcamps arrange transportation from lisbon. Or you can come by bus from Rodoviária Expresso, Sete Rios, Lisbon and leave in the last bus stop (Peniche bus station). The hostels/surfcamps arrange (normally free) transportation to Casais do Baleal.
Captain´s Log House is just 2 min walking from Captain´s beach. And minutes walking from other 4 surf spots. There are surfcamps and other hostels nearby.
Good and free access to parking.
The closest surf shop is Drop Surf Center (5 min walking) but there are many more.
There is Drop Surf Center as the closest surf school, Rip Curl SurfCamp in summer, Peniche surfcamp, Baleal surfcamp, etc. All excellent surf schools.
Peniche fortress (was a political prison) is 4 km away. The Berlengas islands (a diving paradise) are 1h distance by ferry. A bowling center is 20 min driving. A karting is 8 min driving. Óbidos a historical village that organises a big medieval fair is 15 min driving. A huge chinese garden is 20 min driving. Lisboa is 1 h driving.
