General Description
Perranporth beach is a brillaint surfing beach when the waves are right
The waves are constant on a good day because of a rip tide
However the same rip tide can get annoying, you will find you are spending most your time walking back into the surfing flaged area. Great places to eat and drink around perranporth. One of the better beaches in Cornwall.
6 miles southwest of Fistral in Newquay.
over 3 miles of flat sandy beach. single obstacle on extreme left of beach on incoming tide (chapel rock) but not hard to notice (it's pretty huge!) wave heights vary dependant on tide and wind but usually overhead. Small tubes occasionally on incoming tide. best in the winter months. beware of rips left to right.

A30 into Cornwall. Go past Newquay and follow the signs

it's a holiday zone so there's loads of accom of all sorts
Access & Parking Info / Cost
No problems with access. Parking can be a bit pricey in the Summer months during the day if you want to park next to the beach, otherwise it's cheper atop Cliff Road and only a short walk down onto the beach, and free after 1800
Equipment Hire
Piran Surf is the biggest and most prominent surf shop in the town but Coastal Surf and Bathsheba are both well worth a look and all are well stocked and do both sales and hire
Surf Schools
Anywhere you look there's a surf school. Recommend Perran surf sch. operating adjacent to the Surf Lifesaving station on the beach itself, all the gear and good student to instructor ratios.

When its Flat?
When it's flat? Hell, this is Cornwall. It's seldom flat in the winter and in the summer it's touristland! Loads of stuff to do everywhere.
