Surfing in Kenting

It's a great spot for any south swell that comes up from Vietnam. Generally the south and Southwest section receives quite a bit of swell and there are quite a few breaks within close proximity to check out.

Nan wan is obviously the place most tourists and visiting surfers congregate, however if you have wheels there are plenty of other breaks on offer.depending on size wind and tide it's worth heading out for a drive to check out what's on offer...from rivermouths to reefs and beach breaks. However generally there aren't many groundswells from the south and most have to wrap around to get on to the east coast where a few delicious rivermouths await the adventurous.
Check in with Afei at the surf shop right across from Nanwan carpark. The dude is a local legend who has boards accommodation and a very friendly vibe... he will give you a heads up on what's around and might even let you join him for a trip to one of his spots.

There are a few sketchy reefs in the area so bring some booties, even if it's only wind swell and may only last a day or two it still packs some grunt so bring a couple of boards, and a rashie.
I'm not giving away spots as the locals wouldn't be too happy, I did find half a dozen empty rivermouths that hold a nice barrel on the east coast before you get to kenting. Go find!
